Marie has been acting since 1977 when she performed in the summer season of what was then The Sharon Playhouse. Prior to that year she had been seen in a number of local productions with County Players, The New Day Repertory Co., and The Valley Theatre Co. Over the last decades she has appeared in over 100 productions in community, regional stock and Off Broadway theatres.
In 1979 she founded The Queen City Stage Co. Their initial production was SAME TIME NEXT YEAR at the Bardavon 1869 Opera House. Later seasons were held at the Cecilwood Theatre in Fishkill, again at the Bardavon in 1983, and finally seventeen years of intermittent productions at the Cuneen Hacket Cultural Center’s Vassar Brothers
Institute.
In New York, in addition to study with Austin Pendeleton, and work with the Simon Studio, Marie appeared with Playwrights’ Horizons, The Theatre of the Open Eye, The New Dramatists, and The York Theatre Company. A sharp eye might also have caught her in small roles on NY daytime series and even a few movies.
Favorite stage roles include Aida in OVER THE RIVER AND THROUGH THE WOODS, Doris in SAME TIME NEXT YEAR, Brodie in THE PRIME OF MISS JEAN BRODIE (The Cider Mill Playhouse), Anna in WHAT I DID LAST SUMMER (Oldcastle Theatre Co.), Mrs. McGeee in CORPSE (Cooperstown Theatre Festival), Amanda in THE GLASS MENAGERIE (Queen City Stage Co), and Dorothea in ELEEMOSYNARY (River Valley Rep.). Marie has also appeared here at Clove Creek in LEND ME A TENOR and THE LAST ROMANCE. She is happy to be back.
